What words can be used to describe the departure of a true and inspiring artist? A man that once said: "I became a designer to push new ideas, I don’t see the point of designing something that’s already been done 20 million different ways"**
Isn't this the way of thought that each and every designer should have? Be free, be unique. Be loyal to his or her own beliefs. Be real.
McQueen reached the goal of stablishing his own brand, but at the end, I believe that he did more than that. He fought and won the freedom to express what he wanted, in the way he wanted. He fought and won the right to be himself.
Why? Well, I guess that he firmly believed in his innate talent and in what he was able to do with it. So beyond the artistic legacy that McQueen has left behind, I rescue his courage to be real and loyal to himself because courage is what a true artist is made of.
